Brownsville Chapter of Hadassah The Brownsville Chapter of Hadassah was founded in approximately 1951, and currently has 78 members, of which 59 are life members. The chapter includes residents of Harlingen and South Padre Island as well as Brownsville. The chapter holds four meetings a year, in September, November, January and March. It also sponsors a Deli Lunch fundraiser , Hadassah Shabbat , a donor appreciation event, the breast "check it out" and the installation of officers. Hadassah is a non-profit International Organization which supports health care, health research, and social services in Israel. It also promotes health education, community activism and support for Israel in the United States. Founded in 1912, it is the largest woman's organization and the largest Zionist organization in the United States, with over 300,000 members. |
